CICCU Faculty Outreach
A biblical perspective in our academic work both serves our degrees and opens fresh opportunities to speak of Christ
Specialist support for the Christian Union
The Cambridge Inter-collegiate Christian Union (CICCU) was founded in 1877 and became the first in the student-led Christian Union movement which soon spread to Oxford and has ultimately resulted in a global fellowship of over 180 countries: the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES).
Although CICCU’s history and structure are college-oriented, its Faculty Outreach ministry seeks to develop the many fresh opportunities which result when Christian students – or their visiting speakers – can speak of the academic disciplines from a biblical point of view.
The Study Centre, its reference library, discussion hosts, postgraduate Fellows, guest days and lunch schedule, have all been established in partnership with UCCF to provide specialist support for this student-led ministry. CICCU hosts its Monday morning prayer in the Round Church, which we have also made available for Faculty Outreach events, such as the Resurrection Poetry Festival, warmly reviewed in The Varsity student newspaper.
